Working Principle of Disc Centrifuge

DHC self-discharging disc separator, manufactured by Zhengzhou Toper Industrial Equipment Co., Ltd., is designed to perform two main operations: liquid-solid separation (clarifying operation) and liquid-liquid separation (or liquid-liquid-solid separation).

The disc separator functions as a vertical centrifuge, with the drum mounted on the top of the vertical axis and driven by a motor for high-speed rotation. The drum contains a series of disc-shaped parts that are nested with a small gap between them. Suspensions or emulsions are introduced into the drum through a feed tube at the center. As the suspension flows through the gap between the discs, solid particles or droplets are forced to settle on the discs, forming a sediment or liquid layer. The sediment is then collected at the largest diameter portion of the drum, while the separated liquid is discharged through an outlet.

The discs play a crucial role in shortening the settling distance of solid particles or droplets, thereby increasing the drum's settling area and production capacity of the separator.
