The filter press is a solid liquid separation device using the principle of pressure feeding. It has been used successfully in almost every industrial filtration application over its 150 years of history. 
It includes a series of filter plates and frames or recessed plates which are arranged alternately. The filter medium is provided in between the plates. A feeding pump is utilized to force the liquid through the medium leaving the solid trapped inside. Compared to other pressure filters the filter press holds more solids per square feet of filtering surface area then any other.

2. Working principle the hydraulic compress recessed filter press :

 

When the filter press is suitable installation, you can push the power button ,and the pressing process is start as the machine is automatically controled :

The cylinder piston of hydraulic device drives the push plate to press the filter plate and filter cloth between push plate and tail plate.Filter chamber are formed between pressed filter plates and materials get into the filter chamber through the inlet of tail plate with the help of feeding pump. 

Solid particles are remainned in filter chambers forming into cakes ,while liquid is discharged out of the machine through press cake and filter cloth.

To wash the press cakes,washing water can  be introduced through the washing inlet of the tail plate.

4. Operation process includes the following

1). The hydraulic unit drive the head plate to press the middle plates and filter cloth between head plate and tail plate. And chambers form between every two plates.

2). The pump will deliver the mud into the chambers. Solids retainled in the chamber to be cake, and liquid flow out. Until the cakes is full. Then pump stops.

3). With about 10 minutes pressure holding. When you see there is no liquid flow it, the squeezing process finishs.

4).The plate shifter device will help to pull the plates one by one, and cake will discharge automatically.
