The disc separator functions as a vertical centrifuge with a drum mounted on the top of the vertical axis, driven by a motor for high-speed rotation. The drum contains a series of nested disc-shaped parts with small gaps between them. Suspensions or emulsions are introduced into the drum through a central feed tube. As the suspension flows through the disc gaps, solid particles or droplets are forced to settle on the discs, forming a sediment or liquid layer. The separated solid accumulates at the drum's largest diameter, while the liquid is discharged through an outlet. The discs aid in reducing settling distance for solid particles, expanding settling area, and enhancing separator production capacity significantly.
